Hold your tongue
Hold your tongue. 'Hold your tongue. Do not exalt yourself but lighten the way. Follow the truth of the way. Reflect upon it. Make it your own.' Hold your tongue: speech can illuminate or obscure. The master's words are sweet because they come from silence. Don't exalt yourself—let your words lighten the way for others.
In a right moment
In a right moment. 'Why can't I take sannyas? I go on thinking.' Thinking is the barrier. Sannyas is not a decision of the mind—it's a leap. In a right moment: don't wait for the mind to agree—it never will. The right moment is when you stop thinking and jump.
The quiet way to the happy country
The quiet way to the happy country. 'You have no name and no form. Why miss what you do not have? Love and joyfully follow the way.' The quiet way to the happy country: happiness is not loud—it's quiet. You have no name, no form—these are illusions. The quiet way is the way of silence, of no-mind.
I goofed again!
I goofed again! 'You can't put an Italian in an Irish joke.' Laughter bridges all gaps. I goofed again: the seeker makes mistakes—but each mistake is a step. The master laughs at your goofs, not to humiliate but to lighten. Don't take your mistakes seriously—laugh and move on.
How sweet to be free
How sweet to be free. 'Do not be reckless. Meditate constantly or you will swallow fire.' How sweet to be free: freedom is not recklessness—it's constancy. Meditate constantly—not as effort but as awareness. Without meditation, life is fire—you swallow it and cry 'No more!'
Rising in love
Rising in love. 'I've fallen in love with a woman I divorced two years ago.' Rising in love: not falling but rising. You fell in love the first time—now you're rising. Love that returns after loss is deeper. Falling in love is biological; rising in love is spiritual.
Beyond the beyond
Beyond the beyond. 'Wanting nothing with all your heart, stop the stream. When the world dissolves, everything becomes clear. Go beyond this way or that way.' Beyond the beyond: don't stop at enlightenment—go beyond. Even 'beyond' is a concept. When the world dissolves, clarity remains—not of something, but clarity itself.
Laughter: love, joy, gratitude
Laughter: love, joy, gratitude. 'Is it all a joke? I don't get it.' Yes—it's all a joke. The cosmic joke. Laughter: love, joy, gratitude—the three faces of enlightenment. The joke is that you're already what you seek. The punchline is you. When you get it, you laugh forever.
What mischief!
What mischief! 'A master gives up mischief. He is serene. He does not take offense and does not give it. He never returns evil for evil.' What mischief: the ego's mischief—anger, pride, greed. The master gives up all mischief. Not taking offense is not weakness—it's strength. Serenity is the highest power.
Laugh your way to God
Laugh your way to God. 'To become enlightened, do you need to be Jewish or does it just help?' Neither—enlightenment has nothing to do with any religion. Laugh your way to God: the path is not solemn. The serious never reach; the laughing ones stumble upon truth. God is the ultimate joke—and you're the punchline.
